BASIC FACTS IN THE SUPERBOY STORY

This is an independent film, a video for a production project, not a movie for theaters, will be made,  most of it in the location the guy who plays Superboy, probably where you live! Superboy is 16 to 20 years old,  I am looking for a somewhat muscular guy for the role of Superboy., based on the original Superboy comic books of the 1960s. This is like a self published book. Some small money might be made but this is not a commercial venture.

We are also looking for a teen or early 20s girl to play the role of Superboy´s girlfriend.

Acting pays more money than modeling. No travel involved.

This is a totally non union INDEPENDENT FILM meaning it is financed totally by the film maker and is not associated with any major studio.   Making a movie is a lot of work and this is a serious endeavor.  


Superboy is a good looking guy who becomes super when hit by a meteor shower...    He is super strong and can fly in the air and he is unbeatable against any guy. 

His real name is Conner  No one knows who he is except his girlfriend, Lana  He may or may not wear glasses as Connor before he switches to Superboy., 

He gets his powers when he is hit by a meteor shower riding in an open car.  It happens in a flash.  One minute he is not super and the next minute he is super.

He is a show off, unlike previous Superman movies. Superboy is somewhat muscular.

His powers are super strength, the ability to fly and an invulnerable body.

He decides to call himself Superboy and use his powers in the so-called mirror scene.

His first experience of flying is around his back yard.

He first makes the costume when he visits a used clothing store and sees the red tights and the boots and the shirt and leather jacket.

We will need you to do a short video audition which can be done on a cell phone and e-mailed in to us.  It is a solo scene meaning nobody in it but you.  You need a room with a window in it that you can go out of so on the ground floor.

His first experience as Superboy using his powers is on a camping trip as Conner when a dead tree limb is about to fall on a bunch of guys and girls, he sees it and makes an excuse to leave and quickly switches to Superboy, jumps in the air and flies and catches the tree limb just as it is about to fall on them.  This is the first time we see him in the costume.

Many of his adventures center around his school.  Word has gotten around that Superboy is supposed to be unbeatable and all the jocks and bullies in his school are out to prove that wrong.  Especially the guys on the wrestling team and one guy who insists that he can wrestle Superboy and win.

Superboy also does "good deeds" like stopping three bullies who are beating up a kid.

The flying scenes I would like to have done in real time with a crane with Superboy suspended from two wires and wearing a harness under his costume, however due to budget constraints it may just be leaping and jumping

Some basic departures from the Superman movies are: he wears a different costume, he appears shirtless in many scenes, it shows him completely switching to Superboy, not just opening his shirt.  Superboy also has a cocky attitude and likes to show off his powers where Superman doesn't.

There is a scene where there is a bank holdup and Superboy stops the robbers.  They try to shoot him but their guns are useless against him.  Superboy grabs one of their guns and twists it in two.

There is a scene where Connor spends the summer on his uncle's farm helping him out because he is short of farm hands.  His uncle makes him promise not to reveal himself as Superboy during his time there.  There are three farm hands there who have heard of Superboy and are all jealous of him.  One of the farm hands once saw Superboy stop the robbers in a bank holdup but he believes the bullets bounced off his costume and that his shirt was somehow bullet proof and that Superboy can be hurt like any other guy.  Chris has to pretend to be weak and has trouble carrying a bale of hay up a ladder.  Later on all four of them are working in a field, clearing it of stones. One of the farm hands is on a tractor.  The tractor gets out of control and it can't be stopped. One of the farm hands is right in front f it and is about to get run over.  Conner quickly slips away and switches to Superboy.  

He jumps in the air and flies down right in front of the tractor. With his super strength he stops the tractor from running over the farm hand.  The farm hand who is running the tractor is the one who is the most jealous of Superboy and is the one who saw him in action at the bank hold up.  He gets down off the tractor.  He walks up to Superboy and says he believes his powers are a trick and that he’s not really super.  The farm hand says he has heard that Superboy can bend steel with his bare hands and so he goes back to the tractor and gets a crowbar from the tool box.  He brings it to Superboy and watches Superboy twist it in two with his bare hands.  Still not convinced, the farm hand challenges Superboy to fight him.  He says that Superboy's shirt keeps him from being hurt.  Superboy takes off his shirt in front of all three farm hands. The other two are amazed at Superboy's muscles.  The jealous farm hand then slams Superboy in the chest hurting his hand. With a puff of his super breath, Superboy blows him down on the ground, then leaps in the air and flies away.

Superboy has a girlfriend but only halfway through the story.  She is one of the girls on the camping trip who Superboy saves from being clobbered by the tree branch.  She alone knows the secret of his secret identity.  In the final scene of the movie she is kidnapped for ransom money and is taken to a remote island and kept locked in a cell. The story closes with Superboy flying to the island and rescuing her, bending the bars of her jail cell with his bare hands and being shot at by the kidnappers.

There is a scene with bodybuilders in the high school gym.  None of them believe in Superboy’s super strength.  They believe he is just a muscular guy who likes to show off. They put out the word that they would like to see him come to the gym and have a strength test with them. Superboy arrives and is challenged by the strongest of the teen bodybuilders who has taken a first in a teen bodybuilding contest.  He thinks he can match Superboy's muscles. He bench presses 450 pounds over his head. He then challenges Superboy to match that. Superboy first removes his shirt so that the guys can see his invulnerable chest.  Superboy piles on all the weights than can fit on the bar and presses them over his head 50 times.  He then takes the steel bar and bends it in two with his bare hands.

Regarding the costume, in some scenes he wears the leather jacket, the shirt, the red tights and the boots. In some scenes he does not wear the black leather jacket.  And in some scenes he is bare chested and only wears the red tights and the boots.

The flying scenes should be ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR.  They are done on a crane with wires, meaning you fly down in real time instead of using a green screen We need a lot of outdoor scenes for the flying..
