She genuinely wants what’s best for the people she loves, and surprisingly, she has a very protective side. Nurturing, with maternal qualities, she could be seen as the mom of the group. She appears the most youthful, but seemingly has the oldest spirit. She was born in the early 1900’s, so she has a timeless/classic beauty about her. Lead (visually mid to late 20’s) Alex (Visually of European, any region, descent) fought in the 1846 Mexican American war. Alex appears to be open on the surface, but scratching at anything deeper leaves you standing at a wall. He’s bright, smart, extroverted, and usually the center of attention. Best friends with Alison, they seem like the perfect pair (and like there could possibly be more between them). But there is something mysterious about Alex that lies just beneath his bright facade. His personality isn’t fake, rather he’s gotten really good at hiding the deeper parts of himself. We see Alexander become one of Charlie’s best friends, navigating whether or not it’s completely platonic. Having a complex history of his own, this is reflected in his relationship with Charlie. From the way that she dresses to the way that her hair naturally and effortlessly falls around her face. If she were southern, she would make the perfect debutant. Not just pretty, Alison is also very intelligent, haven gotten into Ivy Law School with Alex. Alison may be perfect on the surface, but much like Alex, she has a few chinks in her armor that she would prefer to keep hidden. She hides these imperfections by trying to fix and help others reach their fullest potential, and she sets her sights on Charlie as her next project. Theo (visually of Hispanic/Latin/Latin-Native descent) He fought in the Mexican American war like Alex. He is the quiet type, much like Charlie, but in a very different way. Where as Charlie’s attention is usually turned inwards, Theo’s attention is usually turned outward. Charlie’s energy can be erratic or anxious at times, whereas Theo always comes off as a rock or a solid foundation. Theo is observant, and it’s very rare that anything escapes his notice. He’s quick to make his mind up about people, because he’s quick to figure them out. Still able to chime in when his voice is needed, or be a helping hand to the friend group, he values his quiet time and his personal space. And he can often be found hanging back from the group (and sometimes almost watching over them as if on the lookout for an enemy that could show up at any moment) He is usually the one that figures out what’s going on first, and the one the group seeks when they need guidance.Theo has been in love with Alison for

Supporting (visually mid to late 30’s) Isabella (visually of mix African American, and Hispanic/Latin descent) She is Charlie’s biological mom. Throughout the story, Isabella appears to be Charlie’s unspoken guide the closer Charlie gets to the truth, and it’s hinted they have a special connection. Isabella should have a motherly nature, but also ethereal quality to her. She’s young, beautiful, but also very very wise. If you combined all of the best parts of the friend group, and put them into a soft but fierce person, you would get Isabella. Her wisdom is more unspoken and should show in the way she carries herself, her facial expressions, and the tone of her voice.

Day Player (visually mid 30’s to early 40’s) Ezra. (Visually of African or African American descent) Ezra is Charlie’s biological father. He is a mostly silent man, and he sets the tone by being Isabella’s rock. Though he doesn’t say much, you’ll always find him in quiet support of his wife. He’s strong but has a gentle and kind nature when it comes to his interactions with Isabella.

HELENA: Female | Caucasian, | Age: 35 - 45 | Role Type: Supporting
Supporting (visually late 30’s to mid 40’s) Helena (Visually of White - European or White American descent) she is Charlie’s adoptive mother. Helena is endearing, a social butterfly, southern belle, and can be a bit anxious. (But only behind closed doors). Much like Alison, she keeps a perfect composure in public and she knows how to work a crowd. Helena is the kind of person that knew exactly what she wanted from a young age. Big house, handsome husband, and to adopt children. Helena absolutely loves and adores Charlie, but she has this hidden (and ever nagging) feeling that she might fail as a parent in connecting with her. None the less, she always makes an effort to try and bridge any gaps there are in their relationship, which can be hard given their very different backgrounds. She also has a secret she’s keeping from Charlie, and she’s almost able to separate herself from that secret, in order to protect their bond.

HENRY: Male | Caucasian, | Age: 40 - 50 | Role Type: Supporting
Supporting (visually early to late 40’s) Henry (visually of White - European or White American descent) Henry is an artist, and this is where Charlie gets her artsy side from (or so she thinks), so he is an intuitive guy. But he chooses to cover that side of himself by being the perfect Dad and Husband. Dad jokes? He’s got them. Pranks? He’s got them. Dad advice? He’s got it, but his humor isn’t 1 dimensional. He’s genuine in his efforts to make the people he loves happy (Helena and Charlie) and tends to cover of his sensitive artistic side by being his families protector. He completes Helena’s vision of a perfect family.
