Project Description:
"Sidelined" is an MFA thesis film apart of the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema in conjunction with the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.
Synopsis: "Sidelined" follows a high school Indian-immigrant girl as she tries to help her football team win a game from the sidelines while hiding from her parents.

Leela is a 16-year-old high school girl. She is the second generation daughter of an immigrant family from India but she has fully adapted to American culture and no longer speaks her Indian language. Fearless, driven and loyal to a fault, she is a die-hard football fan. She once tried out for her high school team but was humiliated off the field. So now she stays in the shadows by the sidelines during practice and games. Watching and studying.

His dad Kenny, the head coach, has carefully constructed Eric's high school life to get him a full ride to college. Eric often feels like a piece on a gameboard instead of a player. Even though he is the second string quarterback, he is benched during most games, waiting for a chance to earn his spot on the team.
